Petroleum Contamination
Unocal, Guadalupe Oil Field, California
Lead ecological risk assessor for a project evaluating risks from petroleum and other compounds at a 2700 acre site along the Central
California coast which provides habitat for four federally threatened or endangered species (1999-2005). Planned and conducted risk assessments for mediated interactions with the local, state and federal agencies. Instrumental in development of strong cooperative rapport between client, regulatory agencies and natural resource trustees. Developed innovative approach for evaluation of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) risks to ecological receptors.
Chevron-Phillips Chemical, Ballast Water Basins, Puerto Rico
Lead ecological risk assessor for assessment of basins that formerly received ballast water from tankers (2001-2006). Evaluated risks to terrestrial and aquatic receptors from metals and petroleum-associated contaminants. Aided client with agency negotiations to reach site closure.
